Kobe

"Defenece" ~"Defenece" ~"Defenece"!

 "get out"~"get out"~"get out"字眼更是少不了。

↑Kobe

Kragthorpe: Lakers make Jazz's victory meaningful

The Salt Lake Tribune

Just in time to make the Jazz's All-Star break much more enjoyable, the Los Angeles Lakers rolled into town Wednesday night.

As only the NBA's best team could do, the Lakers validated the Jazz's performance at EnergySolutions Arena, making the home team earn a 113-109 victory that changed the whole outlook of the Jazz's season.

For one night, when the building was buzzing throughout a riveting game that made those exorbitant ticket prices worth every dollar, the injuries and inconsistency that formerly defined this Jazz campaign were forgotten. Amid their missed free throws, turnovers and other lapses, the Jazz found themselves in the end. Paul Millsap's driving three-point play came after they fell behind and Mehmet

Okur's three-pointer came after they were tied in the last minute.

The go-ahead shot was launched from Okur's favorite spot at the left angle. "That's what I've been waiting for, right there," Okur said, and he's not the only one.

This was the Jazz's signature win, and it was well timed. Besides resting this weekend with no All-Star obligations, they can enjoy being inside the Western Conference playoff cut and imagine the possibilities awaiting them, once Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko return from injuries.

They overcame frustrating moments of unfavorable calls, some of the worst free-throw attempts this side of Shaq and the Lakers' refusal to fade in the fourth quarter. They played through it all, not giving

in to the potential of choking this win away.

"You're not always going to get everything you want," said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan. "You've got to work like the devil." Or the Lakers.

They were playing their eighth game in 13 nights in eight cities, having briefly gone home for Tuesday's meeting with Oklahoma City. For any other team, this game would have served as a tempting mail-in opportunity, but the Lakers rose above that. Even after trailing by nine points with six minutes left, they took the lead, only to have the Jazz respond.

The Jazz (30-23) could learn something from Lakers (42-10), who act as if every night is a test of their championship potential.

"That's helped us a lot this year, more so than years even when I was in L.A. before, or in Golden State and here in Utah," former Jazz guard Derek Fisher said before the game.

"When you're playing and there's not really an end purpose to it -- you're just trying to figure out how good you are -- sometimes you get into those kinds of ups and downs and things start going bad and stay bad for a while," Fisher added.

When it counted, the Jazz played at the Lakers' level.

This was the Lakers' first visit since wrapping up their second-round playoff series victory in Game 6 nine months ago, when Boozer struggled. Initially, Millsap was impersonating Boozer -- only worse.

Millsap's first-half stat line: 11 minutes, two points, zero rebounds, three fouls.

Millsap bounced back, finishing with 10 points and eight boards, and he was involved some of the Jazz's biggest fourth-quarter moments. His assist of Ronnie Brewer's dunk made it 101-92, then his three-point play pushed the Jazz ahead 107-105 with 1:27 left. After Okur's go-ahead three-pointer, Millsap's rebound of Kobe Bryant's miss enabled the Jazz to barely maintain control.

Millsap would do well to heed the All-Star break advice posted on the whiteboard in the locker room: "Rest, recover." Same with Deron Williams, who trudged into the locker room after a 31-point effort.

After this performance, they can regroup for a potentially strong finish.
